Review on πŸš— Weighted Car Trash Can with Lid and Leakproof Lining - High Road TrashStand by Elvis Bragg

Simply good. Kinda thin.

I wanted a bin for my car because since the start of Covid I needed a place for my used gloves and masks, not to scatter them on the passenger side carpet. Not only did my normally untouched car look dirty with discarded personal protective equipment, but I worried that such junk would contaminate everything it touched. I spent weeks searching on Revain and elsewhere for what I felt was the best option for a trash can and finally ordered this one. Many reviews have mentioned there is a zipped pocket for the included weight bag which is said to prevent tipping, but this product must have been redesigned based on these reviews as what I received is different than what they described . There's no zipped compartment, and the included weight is really just a thin sheet of metal that you stick into the bottom of the bin and then slide a removable bin liner over it. You can see this thin plate in the product photos. As others have described, the sides aren't rigid so they fold rather than stay open and ready to pick up dirt. I removed the included lid from the outside of the bin but there is nothing to attach it to. The manufacturer should have provided a small velcro or magnet to hold the open lid to the edge of the container. On my very first outing with this unit installed, it tipped over as I made a turn. To fix this I found a heavy flat rock which I wrapped in a clean piece of plastic and placed on the bottom of the bin along with the metal plate provided. But this requires a good two centimeters of space on the floor. The "sealed" liner that comes with it seems to be of good quality and will indeed be airtight, but the container itself isn't very good quality so I'm not sure how long it will last. All in all, this bin is fine and better than nothing. It holds the junk I intended it for and once you flip the lid back to the open position the sticky logo on the lid is hidden. Once you've done that, it's all black save for the gray liner, making it more discreet and less obtrusive than with the lid closed or most other bins available. I have other High Road parts on my car that I like but this one is fine. Including sales tax, the cost was just under $20, which I think is way too much considering the overall quality and design. I think it's worth about $12 or $13 max, not the $18 plus tax I paid for it. I have the larger 2 gallon size and if it was better built and less cheap looking I would love it.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
