Firstly it's real leather with embossing but it doesn't smell like leather. This is a VERY HARD CHEMICAL ODOR. It doesn't smell like leather and believe me I know the smell. After inserting 11 credit cards and an incomplete checkbook, it has a 1-inch gap that doesn't even come close to closing properly. BUT I needed something to hold our credit cards because we only carry one at a time. It's a lot nicer than just tossing them in a box. Overall I'll leave it, but I'm not 100% happy with it. I just haven't found anything nicer.
