Review on Proctor Silex Compact 4-Slice Non-Stick Belgian Waffle Maker, Black (26051) – Indicator Lights by Alex Tellekson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The "upgraded " model is not as good as the original.

We've ordered the 26500Y before and we love it. We've been trying to order a second one so we can make waffles twice as fast when we have company. Unfortunately that model appears to have been discontinued and Revain sent this one instead. Too bad Proctor Silex took a wonderfully simple waffle maker and made it even worse. The new "improved" model no longer tells you when the waffle is ready. He also makes waffles with large holes. Of course Belgian waffles should have big holes for the syrup (or honey or jam or whatever) but they are very big. It also means that waffles use a little less batter. My disappointment aside, this is still an inexpensive, functional device that makes good waffles. It gets four stars, but by comparison the previous version would have gotten six. UPDATE: After using this new "improved" model for a year, we threw it away. We continue to use our old waffle maker as it does its job well. The dough kept sticking to the nonstick surface no matter what we did to avoid it.
