Review on Gemini HDCN 15 Turntable Headshell Cartridge by Michael Rosario

I have an old Akai AP-307 turntable and I have used it (very much used) - the cartridge has lasted a long time - but it's time to replace it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money to replace a cartridge and find out there was a problem with it, so I settled on the Gemini HDCN-15 body and cartridge. I ordered one but said it was "used in excellent condition" from Revain stock. I received it very quickly (next day) and was thrilled to install and set it up. It was supposedly repackaged and mine came in bubble wrap - lol. Much to my surprise, there were TWO shells and carts inside the bubble wrap. That worried me. Mainly because I thought it was such a bad deal that they offered a second one and hoped it would work. Half an hour later I installed it and installed it on the player. I'm pleasantly shocked at how good it sounds. I used an old vinyl record that I knew had some wear and actually smoothed it out a bit. I'm going to take the second sink and cart to my favorite music store (a little mom and dad's store) and give it to the owner. His needle played his last song last week and needles are no longer made (lpgear wants about $100 for their version) - I'm hoping to put a smile on his face and get the music back in his store. Budget wise - you can't go wrong with this setup - take your time, set it up right - and you'll be rewarded!
