Review on DEEPCOOL TESSERACT Computer Standard Chassis by Douglas Cochrane

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great case! But they increased the price by $20!

Really surprised by this case! I paid $39.99 for this case 2 months ago. Here's what I noticed during assembly: The sides of the case were weak. There is a dent on the back of the side panel. I'm pretty sure that's because I didn't drop it when I took it out of the box. The clear plastic side window is great! No scratches and very well protected upon delivery. Again, the metal isn't very thick, was quite thin, but I won't be moving this computer much, it will be my display. All inside edges have been rolled, no sharp edges to cut yourself on :) Plenty of cable entry points. My computer build looks amazing! There was an additional grille in the PSU bay to allow the fan to be placed on the outside of the case, reducing heat dissipation into the case. Each exhaust port has a mesh screen, they collect a lot of dust. I am sure. I love the thumbscrews for tool-less case assembly. You don't need a screwdriver to hand for quick vacuuming. The included LED fan worked great! Great addition that saved me a few bucks on my build. The accessory cables on the front were well marked and easy to install on my motherboard. Everything worked the first time! Motherboard standoffs were pre-installed. Thank you! It was necessary to add another one that came with the case! Easy to install hard drive! It's so easy to fit a hard drive into the drives, then just snap it back into the case, DONE! I like the active disk indicator. Although the blue power indicator is quite bright. Also like the old school reset button. The headphone/mic jacks on the front work great. I only use the front USB 2.0 port and it works great. (I bought a separate 3.5" card reader/USB 3.0/2.0 and used that instead). Final Thoughts: When I was looking for a budget case my criteria included the following: Large near full size window (for adding RGB pixels later, hehe) Fans included in case (2 with LEDs) ATX sized to fit my new Ryzen system Plenty of ventilation so I can overclock the $40 price tag. I'm glad I bought it then. As of today, this case costs $59.99. Will I buy this case again at this price? I don't think I would do that. There are much nicer cases for $60 and up. It's a great budget case. I have value for the money I spent. However, if the manufacturer is reading this, they should understand that I don't think this case is worth the $60 they're asking for it. The competition is fierce and new options are constantly emerging. This is a great case and I'm glad I ordered it. But if I decide to build another computer soon, I'll shop like I used to. I will not buy this one for $60. Revain Prime is no longer available. If you like this product and you are willing to wait for the sale, I am a good choice. I've officially been using this case for 6 months now and I'm very happy with it. You have to be careful because the plexiglass of the side panels is easy to scratch. At the moment the case is under my desk and they only moved it to clean the block and install additional graphics cards (6 monitors are now connected). I recently had to remove my Ryzen 5 1600 processor to install it on a new motherboard. The motherboard was not configured to work with the new Ryzen 3 2200G APUs (legacy from Revain). The r5 1600 allowed me to update the new MoBo bios and I put it back in this computer/case. The blue power light isn't as distracting as I expected and mostly sits unnoticed under my desk. Love seeing the red HDD activity LED :) All the USB and audio outputs work great, as do the power and reset buttons. I take the time to remove the dust covers and clean them regularly. The bottom cover of the PSU is the trickiest part. However, I recommend this case for less than $40 :)
