Starting with model x, there was an effort to include a screen with improved resolution inside the case, but this had no positive effect on the navigator. The compass is removable and portable. But, including a compass in the design makes it a lot more interesting to use. Because of the compass, I will stick with 32x despite its flaws. The pluses: A compass is present. It's entertaining when you spin at a stop, and it's a benefit when you have spotty satellite reception, but it's not analog. The negatives: My previous Garmin 20 is faster than the new 32x. In addition to being substantially quicker than the 20x, the Garmin 20 actually outpaces the 32x. You can tolerate the inclusion and outlining of maps, as well as the reaction to menu items; the change is not great, and new players might not even notice it. They must be conserving energy for the sake of the gluttonous screen because the brightness is lower at 32x than at 20.
