Just installed today, connected to a Zyxel switch https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084MLC83G on one of the 2.5G ports with a Cat5e cable . FYI, you need to download the Intel Driver Kit package first. I just googled the I225 driver before installing it. Intel utility shows I'm connected at 2.5 Gb/s, although it couldn't tell if the cable was of poor quality or not connected using the built-in cable integrity test. In terms of speed tests, I was able to sustain speeds of between 250 and 280 MB/s for a single 3GB file, according to the Windows file transfer dialog. Compared to 113 MB/s for Gigabit Ethernet, this is a significant speed boost for Cat 5e and not far short of the theoretical maximum of 300 MB/s. Given the overhead, this is probably as fast as I can get it. I'll still get a Cat 6a or 7 cable for data integrity, but I ran some ping tests on Windows CMD with 50 pings at a maximum file size of 65MB and 0% packet loss. That might not be a very cruel honesty test, but it's something.
