Physically this is a Fort Knox case, but I have to report something that took me ages to finally understand. I had a nice new SP7 which was an upgrade from SP6 and of course I figured it would be fast enough for all my wants and needs, but it's not. I ended up going insane trying to tweak Windows, checking for malware and all sorts of other things that ended up not working. I had a friend who suggested we start checking the temp and I did. And lo and behold - this event caused my surface to constantly throttle the speed! I wanted to try to block it with hardware but that just isn't possible so I decided to get rid of the case. Temperatures dropped and performance increased significantly. I know this is a silly solution, but if you're wondering why your new Surface isn't feeling as fast as it should? That's why!
