Current measurement far away

I am building a battery box for a ham radio and this meter could be used to monitor battery charge voltage and current. However, the current was off more than 50% of the reading, too low for the Fluke 87 meter I used to calibrate it. The adjustment on the dash was not close enough to cover the required adjustment. This meter is only good for reading voltage, which was pretty accurate. The current reading is so bad it's going in the e-waste and I'm going to look for another one that will give me a current reading that I can actually trust and use. Update 05/25/19: The seller sent me another meter after reading my review. The second meter was much better than the first. I was able to set the second meter to about 100mA of the actual current. The meter reads about 100mA more than the Fluke meter. Once the setting is set to minimum the meter shows 100mA more than actual for all ranges from 3.00A to less than 1.00A. I have tried zeroing the current with no load connected by switching the two Shorted pins labeled I-ADJ-Z, and turned on the power, but it didn't seem to make a difference. With no load connected, the meter reads 0.07A. If the zero adjustment worked, then this meter may be fine with the original shunt. For the first meter I tried unsuccessfully to adjust the shunt by filing down the notch. So I ordered some Mouser 7.5mΞ© resistors (part number: 71-WSLP25127L500FEA), cut out the shunt and soldered the resistor in place. The counter is now usable. I can set the current to 3.00A to match the Fluke meter. The meter is slightly non-linear, showing about 50mA under 1.00A, but this is accurate enough for my needs. So my recommendation is that if you get a meter that's too far from the current reading, just buy some 7.5MΞ© resistors to replace the shunt. See photos for details on the conversion. I upgraded my rating to three stars because the second counter could not be reset and the first counter was not useful until the shunt was replaced with a shunt resistor. For me as an electronics engineer this was not a problem. However, non-engineers may not know how to make changes to the circuitry to get the meter to perform acceptably.
