Good. I remove my good rating. After two short uses, half of the handles broke and started leaking. One dried up overnight and is now completely clogged. I can't believe how cheap these things are. I have used fountain pens/calligraphic pens for many years. I don't claim to be an expert, but I'm pretty good at cleaning, charging, replacing nibs, etc. I use my pens every day to write letters, travel, and draw. I use Speedball, Lamy, Sheaffer, Pilot, Feathers, Glass and a few others. Because I love using multi-colored ink, I have a lot of cheap, cranky pens that need maintenance. (I don't mind patiently fiddling with pens all day, so that's cool.) These absolutely horrible pens must have cracked the first time you used them. The caps had spilled ink. The second time I used them, my fingers were covered in ink. I am not picky about my (many favorite) pens and have not damaged them in any way. These pens are NOT FOR BEGINNERS! A beginner needs a GOOD PEN, not cheap, frustrating, cranky junk! Calligraphy is not easy to master without many hours of practice. Buy a beginner a QUALITY pen that is reliable and easy to use. Make sure you understand how and when to clean it! Plus, it's more fun with some super cool ink. Noodlers General of the Arms (change color) or their black ink is fun. Try a pilot pin or a Sheaffer set. On the other hand, I like the peach-orange ink that comes with the kit - I would buy a bottle like that.
