These are plain very plain paper bags in bright colors. They scream "kids birthday" right out of the box. They are suitable for parties or small gifts. However, you can definitely dress them up. I added some patterned tissue paper and then a fancy bow and the bag looked like a sophisticated gift. The insides are white, as are the raffia handles. They have a solid construction. Everything is neatly cut, folded and glued. The handles are solid and probably as strong as a small paper bag handle will ever be. For your hobbyists, the paper material is not matte. It is satin, non-absorbent. I think you can still do things like rubber stamps on it, but you want to prevent the ink from smearing and give it time to dry.
