Inflexible, odd fit causing confusion

Context: I have an 11 month old (presumably rescued) Maine Coon mix with an allergy that manifests itself in excessive belly trimming. He had been e-collared for over a month so I wanted to switch him to something that would give him more mobility and allow him to groom safe areas. Considering he's 15lbs and still growing this survival suit was one of the few that fit him so I decided to give the perks: - easy to put on - to place in the back so he can do his own thing - protected him from tummy licking - the adjustable elastic around the neck kept it in place Cons: - uncomfortable: wore it for about a week and shook out the hind legs every time I walked - not flexible: until my cat's tummy left (which was covered in cloth), it was also so stiff that he couldn't do normal feline things like grooming his hind legs, tail, or prey. It also made him more lethargic. Odd Fit: The costume doesn't appear to be made for cats and it fits very oddly. It was very loose around the hind legs and around the chest, but tight around the primal sac. My cat is big but not fat. It causes problems: because the back straps were oddly loose (even when I tried to tighten them) and the leg holes were very large, my cat would sometimes get stuck in the suit with its hind legs. This made him either drag himself with his front legs or swing on three legs until he could find me. If I was gone for a while it would hang on until I got home. Once I was gone for several hours and when I came back I found that one of his back legs was pinched and he was urinating and soiling the whole back of the suit. He seemed stuck, he had to go to the toilet, but the necessary space was blocked, then he began to drag himself around the apartment, collecting garbage and urine on various surfaces. Needless to say, he wouldn't wear that suit again, at least not without supervision.

Pros
  • It's okay!
Cons
