I live in Missouri, have three bikes and ride year round. EXCEPT snow, ice, heavy rain or freezing temperatures. Motorcycles are simply not designed to function in such conditions. Tired of stopping every 15 minutes in winter weather to warm my fingers, I decided to install a set of these heated grips on my Honda 1300. I drove 15 miles this morning. Cycle back and forth (30 total) at 25 degrees Fahrenheit with the handles installed. There was no wind chill factor and I hit 65 mph. I cranked the cranks to maximum (5) and put on a pair of all-weather leather gloves. I'm disappointed to say my fingers went numb about 8 miles down the road. The heaters aren't hot enough to penetrate the skin layer and warm my hands in temperatures below 40 degrees and speeds well in excess of 20 mph. Below that, you'll need another more expensive heater kit (which I ordered), a pair of heated gloves, or a Batwing windshield for your bike. As said, they are good for temperatures above 40F, but below that special care is required.
