Review on 🐱 Cute and Safe: Cat Ear Motorcycle Helmet for Youth Men and Women Racing - Motocross Casco by Terrance Haralson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Has a DOT rating but is more of a prop.

So I'm gonna tear this helmet apart. But I'd like to start by saying that the face shields and gloves that come with the kit appear to be of decent to regular quality. I would feel comfortable letting a beginner learn with gloves as they are more likely to have a low speed fall while training. However, face shields are useless without a helmet. So I think this helmet should be used as a cosplay prop rather than a protective device. There is a DOT stamp on it. But the overall quality of the helmet in terms of safety is just annoying. Decent quality face shields that come with a relatively low quality plastic interface. I wouldn't be sure how many times you could open and close them before they fail. The EPS feels soft compared to other helmets I own that are less than a year old. What confuses me the most is that the chin strap snaps onto the latch. The pad is made of the same poor quality plastic as the face shield. Aside from worrying about how many times you might use it before it fails, I would have serious concerns that when you actually "use" a helmet off the bike, the latch breaks and the helmet just comes off. If you want to use a helmet as part of your costume instead, or are the type of rider living in a state where you don't wear helmets anyway and are looking for a fashion statement. The outer shell of this helmet is actually in stark contrast to all of the shortcomings I've listed. The price I got for it when I got it was $99, which if you're looking for a suit actually isn't that bad because I've bought unrated suit helmets for a lot more than that. So facts. It's DOT certified, inexpensive, and good looking. I couldn't in good conscience put this helmet on my wife or kids and wouldn't feel safe wearing it on my own head.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
