Review on πŸ’§ Purewell Gravity Fed Capacity Purification Elements: Efficient Water Filtration Solution by Yousef Abood

Mixed feelings. Purwell 2.9 gallons. Gravity Water Filter

I have mixed feelings about this water filter. It's a decent water filter in its own right, but I think it's trying to mimic what might be the most popular water filter of its kind on the market, the Burkey, and failing to do so. and in the price. The water filter itself is pretty good and a joy to look at. Unpacking the unit is a bit tricky as they ship the top of the two piece container upside down and inside the bottom and it's a lot like trying to separate two buckets stuck inside each other. Unpacking required some patience. Out of the box, the next disappointment is the instructions, or lack thereof. When I unpacked everything the instructions were of little help as to why there are three holes in the bottom of the filter and only two filters. There are three rubber cones, what are they for? The instructions say nothing about these rubber cones. I'm assuming the three rubber cones are hole plugs if you're only using a filter or two, but do you have three holes to plug with unused holes? Again, I suspect, because the instructions say nothing about it. Speaking of filters, why are there three filter holes but only two filters? Are two all you need? Should I only use one at a time covering two empty holes, with the second filter as a backup? How long does the filter work? Should I buy another one and use three at the same time? Again, I have no idea because the "instructions" don't mention anything about it. Of course, knowing the information would be useful, especially since the end result - filtered water - ends up in my body! Before ordering this I read someone's negative review about the filters saying they filter red colored water and red water comes out. I haven't tested it that extensively, but I've run some water through just one of the two filters and it tastes great. Of course it was tap water, not rain, stream or any other undrinkable source, so I can't speak about the purity of the result, only the taste. I think the good thing is that you can buy aftermarket filters and then trust the manufacturer's purity claims because those filters don't say that. The entire unit consists of two main containers, a lid, a cheap plastic tube (what? happens when it wears out?) and a rubber ring to keep the device firmly on the tabletop. At the time of writing this product is listed on Revain for $219! Two hundred dollars?!?! For what? Some metal tanks and two filters with unknown properties? Sorry, I just don't see any value here. As I said earlier I think this product is trying to imitate the very popular Burkey water filter system and although it currently costs $220 an equivalent Burkey filter (2.25 gallon) is advertised on their website for $317 -Sold dollars. That means an extra hundred dollars will get you a well-known brand with a well-known product and most likely better instructions and customer service if you ever need it. I still think $320 is a lot of money for several stacked metal pots and two water filters, but their popular brands of water filters sell for $218 a pair, so I'm guessing $100 for metal pots. and the rest for filters. Putting it in that context, you have to decide if this trade-off is a good trade-off. I have good local city water and a water filter in my fridge which we use most of the time. This water filter will be used for meetings, eventual camping trips and will definitely be kept in case of city water order or other emergency. I like the product overall but still feel that it is quite expensive for what you get and the lack of any brand awareness. I hope this review helped you in some way with your decision.
