Works well outdoors. The range is very good and the signal much more reliable than the WIFI version

I've been using the new dog GPS collar for a month now. I originally had a Wi-Fi based collar system (with base and collar) and it worked fine, but the signal wasn't "stable". The GPS version does NOT have the same problem with intermittent signals as it works with GPS satellites that can penetrate more objects and has no problems with hills, fences, cars, garages, dog kennels, RVs, tables, etc. Just the ROOFS block the signal. My only complaint is that it takes a few minutes to find satellites. You need to stand exactly where you want the center of your rim radius and then turn on the collar (no base station, just collar). As for me, I stand a few feet from my back door because I have a side rail. Again, finding GPS satellites takes no more than 2 minutes, but once it does, it stays locked. Once it finds GPS satellites, it will start the GPS in warm mode if it loses any signal. In my repeated testing, I've found the distance to be very accurate to within less than 12 inches outdoors. The collar will beep and vibrate vigorously before a shock is applied. You can adjust the sound, vibration and intensity of thrusts. Excellent control over shock, noise and vibration. It's a GPS based system so you won't have problems with signal blockage while your dog is outside. If the dog goes in and there is no GPS signal, NOTHING happens. The machine does NOT beep or shake. This is good because dogs can hide under objects or in their kennel. No base station; Collar only so don't worry about the signal being blocked by line of sight like the Wi-Fi versions. Now I personally haven't had any issues with trees or storm clouds blocking the GPS signal, only rooftops. I tried another test. I have set the center of my border in my backyard. I entered my house and at that moment the collar lost the GPS signal as expected. Again, no noise or vibration. I kept walking out the front door, whereupon the collar quickly found the GPS satellites again (warm start GPS). I continued walking towards the road and the collar realized I was too far from where I had set the center of the boundary and started beeping and vibrating as usual until I got back to the house. This way, if for some reason the collar loses the GPS signal, it will still know where the border is once it re-detects the GPS satellites. It doesn't forget the border radius unless you turn off the device. The battery lasted a whopping 12+ hours for me. The device will fall asleep if the dog is long enough, but will wake up as soon as it starts to move. In my experience, once it knew where they were, it found the satellites again in less than 10 seconds. Also known as "Hot Launch GPS" (search for it). My final comment: if your phone can receive GPS (turn off signal) then this device will work fine. If you are in a basement or cave, this will not work.
