Useless. "Please do not use alkaline batteries...otherwise they will damage the mechanism. "

ALL standard AA batteries are alkaline. Old carbon batteries are very difficult to find and very expensive. Designing and selling watches that are not approved for use with standard non-rechargeable alkaline batteries is completely irresponsible. It's a real shame because the rest of the device looks good.
