I thought one brand was just as good as another and that doesn't mean it cuts the cost. Initially it was difficult to connect the bulbs to the internet/app. My very first try was a range hood (I considered using it there but ended up putting it on the side of the front and back doors). And when I had trouble connecting them, I figured it was because I can't just use them in a dual system, one fan and one light together. Then I used a regular ceiling light. It took several attempts. Enter setup mode, connect the app to the internet and search for the device. After they were done I put one on the back door and the other on the front. The light in the tailgate worked fine, changed color and so on. The front was never put back into service. The specified device is offline. The front door is less than 50 feet from the modem, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the problem. I haven't even tried connecting him to Alexa, but what if his own app has issues? I can only imagine what could happen to an application written by someone else. Overall I would recommend another brand as it is an average price.
