I've read many of these reviews and found that my experience was very different from many others. I almost never write them, but I felt I had to share them. Many people had difficulty assembling this cage. If you've ever built something from IKEA, the principle is the same: don't fully tighten the screws until you're done. I had no trouble building and I'm far from a master builder lol. The quality is good, this cage costs a little over $100. Head over to Petco and see what you can get for $100. I assure you this is a very good cage for the price. I agree it can be a bit noisy when your pets jump in, it's metal on metal so probably not the best choice if it's going to be in your bedroom. Re: Notes on the tray/grid issue: if you are working with the tray on the side and not on the rails you can mount it normally with a wire shelf underneath, no gaps, no bumblebee. Eventually I will have 4 female rats here and there will be enough room for everyone and there is room left. Very happy with my purchase.
