I love making bread in a Kitchen Aid mixer, but dough rising on the standard hook is a messy ordeal. This spiral hook solved that problem by reducing the push the dough into the bowl. After the batter is mixed well, I leave it in the bowl attached to the hook and mixer and cover it with a cloth. Once the size has doubled, I turn the mixer back on low speed for a brief mechanical "kneading," then turn it to a floured surface to divide and braid the dough. I was hoping to find an uncoated metal batter but when I couldn't I ordered and used it for 3 batches of challah and it worked great.
