Good Choice for Emergency Radios

The KITPIPI Solar Powered Emergency Radio is a useful home appliance that offers features your household may not have. We have several items that we need to prepare for emergencies, including a large number of batteries and generators. But batteries need charging and generators need gas. This radio only needs to be turned on a knob. That doesn't mean you have to turn the knob to charge it. You can also install 3 AAA batteries. There is a switch on the bottom that allows you to select the internal battery or AAA batteries. Nice gesture! There is also a solar panel that charges the battery when the lights are on. Even with room lighting, the internal battery charges slowly. And while that amount of light may not be enough to fully charge the battery in a reasonable amount of time, it does prevent the battery from draining. The flashlight works well and puts out enough focused light to be used during a night hike along the trail. and it's perfect for a quick light to inspect the inside of the tent. A fold-down reading lamp is also welcome. This light is distributed more evenly in the tent and provides a pleasant reading light. The radio is also quite functional. The antenna can be extended for better reception. The internal speaker is pretty good too, so listening to music on this device wouldn't be fun - for something of this size it sounds pretty good. Of course, AM and FM frequencies are available. However, WB bands are also available that allow you to receive shortwave broadcasts, which are useful in an emergency. There's also an alarm switch that sounds a very loud alarm and flashes a red LED on the front of the unit. And when I say it out loud, I mean it. This thing can be heard at a great distance. This product also hits the mark aesthetically. The red matte rubber body feels comfortable and leaves no fingerprints. A wrist strap ensures it won't fall out when held in hand. The design looks stylish and modern. Love it. Overall, I highly recommend this product. In an emergency, you can even turn on the radio manually to charge your phone (or other USB device). No review is complete without at least one flaw, so I would like to note that this device is not waterproof. This detracts a bit from its ultimate emergency function. But if you don't have an emergency radio at home, this product represents excellent value for money.
