I wanted a set of S&P shakers available as a pair at a reasonable price. I also needed something squat or square that wouldn't tip over easily. My previous pair were lovely but they always got accidentally knocked over leaving a mess on the table. They are cute and meet all requirements. The caps and punched holes are the same on both shakers. We use regular grain peppers, which works well, but we end up with LOTS of salt in our food. We're thinking of modifying the lid of this shaker somehow so less salt comes out. You should also be aware that because they are so small you can't easily hold the shakers by the handles, but I wouldn't expect as this is a table sized set and the handles are in proportion to a small mason jar. In general we are very happy with them.
