Read the instructions carefully and determine where the wooden posts are for step 2. You will need two more holes (4 total) on each side to drive the screws into the posts. Line it up with the large holes that the metal swivel caps fit into. The instructions never said where the 4 went, but when you think about it, it makes sense. The product is durable. I can fit a 15.6" gaming laptop and a 13.3" MBA underneath. I don't connect cables from below as I don't have angled cables so be careful. The phone holder fits my phone and Kindle (5 inch E-Ink). On the left I attached the rubber cable holder and routed the static cables from there. Overall it's solid and works well. My desk is much cleaner and more comfortable with this product. I would recommend getting rubber feet to keep it in place or using a strip of non-slip rubber as it slides across my desk when I move something.
