Most brushes are a bit short. When installed, the square end does not fully fit into the square socket, the motor spins but the brush does not spin. The machine runs a full cycle and picks up nothing but dust. You can install the brush on the square side by pushing it in and turning the yellow bearing a quarter turn so one of the two small pins is facing down. With this arrangement, after a few minutes the device will stop and report that the brushes need to be cleaned, although this is clearly not necessary. I suspect this is caused by increased friction in the bearing. I really wanted to like it, but that's why I stopped using Roomba again.
