The fabric is very soft, bright color, just like the picture. The fabric is not elastic. My mini crib mattress is 4 inches deep and I had to work really hard to get it on top of the mattress. I don't think you could do it for a 5 inch mini crib mattress. Based on this I would say this is true to match what is stated in the description.
