Review on πŸš— CUSTOM 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness for Ford Focus Hatchback - CURT 56273 Vehicle-Side by Pogo Shakey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Use the fuse tap in the fuse box in the trunk instead.

This wire harness/tee works exactly as it should and is fairly easy to install if you ignore Kurt's instructions on how to route the wire to the battery. The Focus already has a fuse box in the cargo area, so there's no need to run a wire to the battery, especially under the car where it's exposed to the elements. Save yourself a lot of time and buy a fuse. that you can get power from an empty fuse socket in the trunk fuse box. (Don't forget to plug the wire into the fuse holder Kurt gives you!) To close the fuse box door again, you'll need to use a 90 degree crimp on the power wire, as there isn't much free space. Once all is said and done everything will fit perfectly and you will end up with a much easier and cleaner install. A few notes: 1) You cannot use the Add Chain type. Safety taps as they are too bulky. The fuses in the fuse box in the cargo area are recessed and this type of faucet is too wide and too deep so it hits the side of the fuse box and also prevents the door from being installed. You must use the metal tongue style. 2) The maximum safe current according to the instructions is 6 amps (brakes/turn signals) and 3 amps (taillights/parking lights), for a total of 9 amps. The factory fuse box should easily handle another 9 amps with normal use (there are multiple 25 amp circuits fed from the same leg). However, if you have a number of additional accessories that are powered by this fuse box, adding another is not recommended.
