Review on πŸ”Œ Anker USB C Hub for MacBook: PowerExpand Direct 7-in-2 Adapter - Thunderbolt 3, 100W PD, 4K HDMI, SD/microSD Reader by Jose Strong

Sleek, clean design. The functionality can use the reconstruction.

This is a quality product at a reasonable price compared to the HyperDrive brand. However, there is another Anker 7-in-1 hub that I think is better in functionality and cheaper (but looks less attractive). So I am returning this one and buying another one. My biggest criticism of this 7-in-2 hub is that it occupies TWO MacBook USB-C ports but only allows ONE of the USB-C ports. The C ports on the hub are for either charging PDs or viewing on an external monitor, although this hub has TWO USB-C ports. Why not use one for charging and the other for an external display? Of course, the hub has an HDMI port, but I can't play 4K 60Hz on that port. Even if I wanted to use two external displays, I couldn't do it AND charge through a hub. Sure, I can move the charging cable to the other side of the MacBook, but then I might as well buy another Anker 7-in-1 hub that only uses 1 USB-C port on the MacBook. This frees up a nearby USB-C port that I can use for an external 4K 60Hz display. Don't take my review as something super negative, it's still a decent product (apart from the display flickering from the HDMI port when I accidentally shook the hub). There was another reviewer who also pointed out the shortcomings of this hub. They seem generally happy with it. However, I have high hopes for a device that should be a "dock" for a laptop. I was expecting to connect just one thing, and Viola everything is connected, so I wasn't too happy with the results when I couldn't. If this hub only came with an ethernet port and a Thunderbolt 2/mini display port, I could settle for an underwhelming USB-C design, but neither is there, so I'll look elsewhere. I believe the technology exists. to get USB-C working. The Apple ProDisplay offers charging/video/audio/data over a single connector, so I think Anker can handle that too!
