Slight odour. I like to put them in drawers and storage boxes or hang them on hangers. They say cedar rings can get dirty if left for a long time, so I try not to touch my clothes with them. I think they are a much better alternative to mothballs. Mothballs are actually poisonous and most people don't use them properly. Most likely, the cedar aroma will not last long. I have cedar blocks, rings and chips and none of them lasted long. Maybe pests can pick up the smell, but my nose can't. To refresh/renew the rings, they can be lightly sanded until the brown layer turns red, or cedarwood oil can be applied. Unfortunately, no sandpaper was included. Can't tell if cedar blocks/rings are really effective as we don't really have any insect/bug issues (knock on wood) other than the occasional roach. I figured I should try to prevent this instead of waiting for it to happen. ** I ordered two packs. A package was in good condition. In the second set of shortcomings there were many more. The rings were broken/chipped/cracked. Some of the rings were not ground or cut smooth.
