My Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is not a gaming laptop; no way. If I go too far on a laptop with a video game, the laptop heats up and everything slows down to a bare minimum. This thermal throttling is designed to reduce the heat generated by the laptop's processor and is necessary because there are not many obstructions to airflow inside a laptop. However, using these small hemispheres allows more cooling air to move under my laptop, lowering temperatures significantly. As an added bonus, they help position the back of the device in a more comfortable typing position. They're small, the magnetic mount is AWESOME and if you don't have one for your own laptop, get this one. I also use it for my already well-ventilated Alienware gaming laptop, and I've used it to make my iPad more convenient for drawing without being in a foldable case.
