Review on πŸ”Š Klipsch R-4B II Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer by Andrew Vijayakumar

Good if you don't want to use Dolby Digital

If you don't want to use Dolby Digital, the soundbar is pretty good. But who wouldn't want to use Dolby, right? And when you do that, you experience a terrible lag. I was worried it was just me, but after looking around a bit, it's clear that this is an issue with the Klipsch soundbar in general. Klipsch uses a weak Dolby decoder, resulting in poor audio latency. In theory, you can overcome this by adjusting the delay on the source device, but even that won't work - the amount of delay depends on the source, meaning you'll have to adjust the delay each time. Time. The only alternative is to disable Dolby entirely and use the PCM audio stream, which is worse. Don't get me wrong, this isn't an issue for everyone - if you have a small TV and poor eyesight, this could be the perfect soundbar for you. But when you see the actors' mouths moving, you will be very disturbed that the voices are not synchronized with those lips. Knowing what I know now, I would not buy this model.
