Review on 🧩 Challenging and Engaging: RoWood Wooden Marble Puzzle Building Set by Joshua Donnis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality, works great, complex assembly - but it's good

Laser-cut components are very precise and fit together well. It takes quite a bit of force to push some of the pieces together, so you'll need strong fingers, but this is intentional so the pieces stay together without glue. The design is very elegant and very attractive when assembled. Bending slots allow interfering flared connections to be joined but still really hold together. I used some wood glue for the last few assembled components, but not much. The assembly order in the instructions could be improved, but overall it works. Assembly is a challenging task, in part due to some very small parts that are difficult to manipulate. Make sure you are prepared for this as it can be frustrating if you don't have at least some assembly skills. This would be very difficult or impossible for a child to assemble. The design is very instructive, it uses a gear train, cams, a balancer, an indexer and a toggle. Wax lubricant is included with instructions for use during assembly and is required for parts that slide against each other. Children who play with it will almost certainly develop an intuitive understanding of the mechanics, which can be very valuable later in life. If you want your child to develop an intuitive understanding of mechanics, or you just love cool gadgets, or both, great! A work of art and engineering.
