Review on Black Plantronics Voyager Legend UC Bluetooth Headset - Retail Packaging by Jacob Leon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It has become a great headset! And a welcome relief from Plantronics.

This is a great headset! And a welcome relief from the Plantronics Explorer 395 I use. It fits beautifully and easily with my HTC One M8 as well as the Samsung Galaxy 2 I previously had. The connection quality is excellent! I had several comments on this. Noise canceling works surprisingly well! I was eating on the phone and the person on the other end said he couldn't hear any sounds even with the mic a few inches from my mouth! I used it while driving my very old, very noisy (broken muffler) car and had listener feedback that it did not affect call quality/listener's ability to hear my conversation. Haven't been outside with it yet, so can't comment on wind noise cancellation. I had an old Voyager Pro a few years ago, so I was already aware of the convenience of this configuration - and wasn't disappointed! I forget I wear it most of the time. As some people have mentioned, getting the earbud firmly into your ear canal can take a bit of effort, but once you've got it in place, it stays comfortably in place. After learning the new button layout compared to my old Legend headset, it's very easy and intuitive to use. I love the ease with which I can mute my audio and quickly change the volume of incoming audio. And one thing I expected was more of a gimmick than anything, and I found myself appreciating more than I thought I would: the voice-activated call answering feature. It can be a little annoying when you see "Reply or ignore? react or ignore? like a "ringing" phone in my head, but I *barely* have time to say "Answer" and the call is answered surprisingly quickly! This is very handy for taking a call while I'm completing the documentation of a previous call. Legend works fine for Skype calls on my HP laptop (after some audio settings adjustments for computer and Skype). You'll have to fiddle with the settings to make sure you're using the headset's mic and sound, but once you figure that out, it's great sound. My friend said that when I switched from the laptop mic to the Legend during our Skype calls, it sounded like I was in the same room with him! :) I had trouble connecting the Legend to my wired desktop - the audio was much worse than my Logitech webcam. I'm not sure what the difference in quality is, but my PC is older and I'm still using XP, so this can contribute to poor audio quality when trying to use VOiP on a PC. I have not used this headset for listening. to music or audio files, but at the time I did it worked fine - for a mono device. I can get 4-5 hours of direct Skype from him before he tells me I'm running out of ends and I've had a busy 5 hour uninterrupted phone shift with 2 hours on the phone; it is also very fast reloading. I didn't check the standby time as I was either putting it on a desktop stand or when not in use. The case works surprisingly well (and charges quickly) and I love the spot for the Blu-tooth dongle. /Adapter. I will greatly appreciate this business when I fly here in the near future. Ever since I bought this particular kit I've been blown away by the charging options: a weighted desktop charger (which I really appreciated! so easy to pick up and go), charging station case (and USB connectivity), original small charger (which I probably never use), a USB/micro USB cable and connector. That means I can charge this headset in three different ways: from a wall socket or from a USB port. A lot of bang for the buck with this one. :) Update 11/19/2017: After 3+ years of continuous use (8+ hours daily) this headset is only now partially charging (5 hours of talk time vs. 6 hours) and starting to drop calls after about 5 hours of use. I am in the process of upgrading to a new Voyager 5200 but this pack was a great investment and I will continue to use it as a backup.

Not bad, but spendy for what it is.
