The Qnap TS 1635AX is a really good deal. You can get an 18-slot NAS for less than $1,500. I had some problems that were hidden. For example: - The maximum amount of cache you can have is 1 TB. - Speed really never hits the 1 Gigabyte/sec mark due to processor limitations (Even I had 4 Samsung QVOs on Raid 0 and the max speed I could achieve was 700-800 Megabytes/sec) - Raid 50 speeds are impressive! I've connected 12 x 8TB on Raid 50 and am getting consistent speeds of 450-500 megabytes/s on disks! Overall good value for money and I would 100% recommend it for beginners with multiple computers connected. access at the same time.
