When I first bought this jug I tested the water with drops and the pH was actually over 8. I've been using it intermittently for several years. We have since installed an entire house filter and our own well water has a pH above 8. However, I have just left the hospital with a serious gastrointestinal infection and decided to use a jug as an extra precaution. I opened a new filter, rinsed out two pitchers and started drinking. I figured something didn't taste right, so I checked the pH from the jug. It was about 3-4! I drank acidic water home from the hospital for two days to recover. My native tap water is still above 8 before it enters the jug, this jug changes the pH in the opposite direction. I don't know what's going on, but now I'm drinking my water. Maybe a bad filter? I do not know.
