I needed a 6-1/4" hole for downlights in a drop ceiling tile. This saw was 6.3" and the hole was just the right size. First I cut a pilot hole in a piece of MDF. The hole location was marked on the face of the tile and the hole guide was centered on the tile. I attached the template and the tile to the base plate and bench. The resulting holes were clean and the right size. Ceiling tiles are made from compressed paper fibers and are easily damaged. I tried various ways to cut the holes and all resulted in one Crack that wasn't covered by the ring of light I'm glad.
