This interactive puppy from FurReal is perfect for kids who love dogs but don't have one in the family. The toy is larger than I expected, about 11 inches tall and about 9 inches wide. The leash is approximately 40 inches long, which is a long distance for a small child to walk while holding down the "walk" button. The remote controlled "handle" for walking and activating the dog's dance routine is a good size for a younger age. Weapons. It mimics a real dog leash handle with "handles" indicating what to hold. The two buttons to interact with the toy dog are on top; a pink paw shape and purple star with a music note in the middle. To activate the walk and dance buttons you need to open the hidden Velcro pocket on the dog's belly and then toggle the power switch to the "ON" position instead of the default "DEMO" position. There is also an "OFF" option. The walking function is a good speed for younger children. When held, the dog continues in a straight line. Unfortunately, the walk function only works on hard floors and cannot switch from hard floors to carpet. The dance function works on carpet, but the wheels don't catch on the mat, so the dog can't walk. This toy is very limited in its capabilities but makes a fantastic gift for a young child who is not ready for the duty of a live pet but loves them. My 3 year old daughter loves the walking function and laughs heartily when the dog dances. The dog does not run too fast for her and reacts well when she bumps into something, e.g. B. a wall. This toy hasn't stopped working despite its rougher play, and it's fun to have this dog that mimics the size of a real lap dog. It's a worthy gift for a younger child who wants to pretend to play, but otherwise the toy's usefulness is rather limited.
