The not so sunny side of the Neckereimer

So I recently bought a children's sun hat with neck protection, also known as a "bucket necker", for my little ones' outdoor adventures. At first glance, it seemed like a no-brainer, with its wide brim and UPF 50+ protection that shields you from harmful UV rays. Upon closer inspection, however, I found that the hat was a bit heavy and tended to slip off the head. The nape of the neck also appeared to be too long, making it difficult for her to look up. On a positive note, the mesh material allows for plenty of ventilation so my kid's head doesn't sweat a lot while playing. The cap has held up well to multiple washes too, so that's a plus! Overall, I'd say the bucket necker is a decent option for those looking for extra sun protection, but be prepared for the collar's weight and length.

Pros
  • Excellent sun protection
Cons
  • While pink may appeal to some, it may not be the color of choice for all children. Offering a limited selection of colors decreases the chances of finding a hat a child will love and may discourage some parents from purchasing the product.
