I have only used this item to seal about 6 bags in the last 2 months. A hole is now burned in the center of the opening of the bag, preventing sealing. I wish this worked properly because it's a great device for saving groceries before they run out. but I believe this particular unit is faulty and my refund/exchange window seems to have expired. I'll probably find another one and pay a little more hoping it will last. Disappointed :(. A trick I learned (sometimes works). It takes 10 seconds for the sealing function to start up about 4 more seconds to cool. Sometimes this creates a seal without burning a hole in the bag. Good luck .
