These rods passed the fat cat test... My cat Blub-Blub (who is overweight so can't have anything good) feels it's just the purpose of the curtain step up when he's mad at me. I was forced to use heavy plant hangers and thick wooden rods because every curtain rod I had either broke or buckled badly under the weight of his chubby body. I recently did a renovation and decided to go back to curtain rods... one day you're young and interesting and then all of a sudden you're getting old and spending your free time reading reviews of curtain rods your fat cat won't break... Me though was nervous about buying them because there were no reviews when I made the purchase; However, I went ahead and bought them anyway. I'm glad I did! Not only do they look pretty, but if they can hold a 15-pound cat who thinks she's still a little kitty (along with my thick, ragged blackout curtains), I think she'll handle extra heavy ones too curtains would work well. They are also very easy to install.
