Just received and after about 30 seconds of trying I was ready to send it back. The main light emits a narrow square beam that seemed almost useless to me. I want light that fills the room, not a tightly focused square beam. Then I remembered it was described as "scalable" so I tried scaling. Wow what a difference! I managed to focus the light so that it filled the whole room. That's exactly what I wanted. As it turns out, they have the tightest zoom. My suggestion to the manufacturer: ship it with the zoom set to the widest beam, not the narrowest! The middle light does most of the work. Side lights appear to have minimal effect. Finally, the rubber cover for the USB port is finicky and difficult to put back on. Unless the USB cover stays in place, this headlamp won't be IPX4 rated for long. I'll leave it alone for now and see how it behaves in the long term. *** UPDATE: I had a case today when I needed a light in a long and narrow passage. This zoom lens allowed me to get a tight focus that lit the area perfectly.
