Le Creuset expensive. overpriced? Possibly, but it has a finish that cleans better than my other ceramic coated cast iron. The hours I don't spend soaking and cleaning are worth something, as is the lifespan I expect from this broiler. (9 liters which I bought directly from their shop), a large roaster (5 liters which I bought here) and a roaster (this one). Okay then I bought a 7 liter roaster from a store counter because I couldn't bring the price down but my intention was 3. I haven't noticed any hot spot problems with any of the above products. Everything seems to heat up evenly. Outstanding quality from stove to oven and back. I mentioned cleaning. After each long, slow roast, I look at the crusty bed and think, "I don't want to clean it—it won't be easy this time, but it always works. A little hot water and soap in the pot for a few minutes while I'm doing other dishes and it mostly wears off. I have a dutch oven that I love too, but it's not that easy to clean and the discoloration of the ceramic definitely looks like it's been used a lot. Guess what (which could be wrong, but that's how I sleep) - isn't a kitchen utensil that lasts a lifetime worth the cost of 4 meals (at today's price of a roast) you cook in it?
