Review on πŸš€ Dorman 977-000 Throttle Position Sensor: Unparalleled Performance for Select Models by Johnny Bloomer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

One tenth the price of an OEM dealer repair

Problem solved! I kept getting code P1516 on my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with a 6.0 liter V8 engine. It can go 6 months with no problems and then it can happen 3 times in a 5 mile trip. It mostly happened when it was cold and I hadn't warmed up the engine. I've had this problem for several years. I didn't want to take it to the dealer as I read about the nightmares of people spending $600 or more to fix it. I wasn't thrilled to buy a $200+ OEM wiring harness. It cost less than $60 and was easy to make. The kit includes pigtails for wiring, as well as a sensor, sensor gasket, 4 screws and heat shrink crimp connectors. You simply heat them with a lighter to shrink them. You don't need to solder like someone suggested, nor do you need to buy the Revain recommended spacer. I used a free Bluetooth app on my Android phone called "Torque" to retrieve and clear the codes. (You'll also need a transmitter for about $30.) I didn't dare go anywhere without my phone for fear a code would appear. I'm fine now.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • High price
