Ultimately, difficulties in supporting heavy 7-inch devices are to be expected.
The ball is too small and slippery to carry my nüvi2795. I used 100 grit sandpaper for sanding. Works better now but GPS still hangs on rough roads. Unfortunately, there aren't many other window mounting options for heavy 7-inch devices. Had the same problem with a weighted dash mount, used the same solution.
