When flying my Mavic Mini I rarely take off from a concrete/flat/clean surface - mostly it's mud or grass. I bought this landing pad to increase the ground clearance of my Mavic Mini and to protect it from sand/dust/dirt when landing or taking off. And this landing pad fully meets these requirements. When I bought this pad, I compared it to several others, including a version that folds into a circle, like a sun visor on a windshield. I was actually disappointed at first because it was noticeably heavier, even though it took up less space when folded. But that's a necessary evil as the weight helps keep the pillow in place. and it won't flap around in the wind (or from washing props). Other spacers will give you stakes to hold it in place, but those are additional things to bring and I'm not sure you'll even be able to travel with it. I was confident it would stay in place and I didn't have to worry about it blowing away during flight. Many people who buy landing pads also expect two additional benefits: a flat landing surface and an easier (visible) landing. In fact, it will help a lot with some. The pad eventually takes on the shape of the surface it's placed on, so you don't end up with a smooth, flat surface. As for landing, it definitely gives you a target to aim for. but you won't be able to land directly on it from 100 feet. Even with a mini-goal, this is a very small goal.
