When they refer to a coffee grinder as ceramic, it seems they just mean the grinder itself - the body of the coffee grinder is some sort of plastic, which I didn't expect from either Le Creuset or the product description. The degree of grinding can be adjusted from almost fine to very super fine. Anyone who likes coarse grinding, like me, will be disappointed. I also prefer grinders that grind the top to avoid pixie dust seeping all over the place, but if you enjoy making fine grinding lines, a surplus spice table off your counter, you'll love this grinder.
