I knew I liked this product when I bought 2 more.I use them for makeup. The first was dirty beyond recognition because face paint rubs off even on real skin. I started painting them in skin tones, like one paints a dry canvas before painting. Now I just clean up the design as best I can (without trying to remove the base color) and paint my "canvas" with it a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. Now I have 3 so if I practice many hours I can draw a few designs before cleaning/recoloring them. Also, I temporarily save great drawings on a mandrel so I can visually replicate and make edits to the second mandrel! I would recommend it to any aspiring facial artist. Because the boards don't work for me. I am very tactful. And most boards cost $30 or more. These 3 cost about $25 and I've (easily) drawn over 300 drawings on them. When I got the two newest ones, I painted over them 6 times with skin-colored paint. You never had a chance to get dirty. A great system for me. I try to only use them assembled because it's more realistic than a kid in a chair. Unlike planks, I fully learn how to bend my wrist to fit the curves of my face. Every time I have a new event I feel a SIGNIFICANT improvement in my skills because I train on the Barbs every few days. Update 01/11/20Yes. having 3 is great. As you can see, I can create multiple versions of a theme and get photos of all of them. Well worth it, now I apply a base coat between cleanings. Update March 25, 2020 Now I have 5 of these! I don't know how I used to live without her. Sounds silly, but right now I can try a whole face painting group while I'm at home. I base barbs and paint for hours. Update 4/10/21 I'm on 7 right now (think). I have no complaints about what I use them for. I just bought a fairly large tripod for her. It keeps the head up and no longer takes up space in my Craft 'n' Go. I have tried from time to time to use the 6 sided board I bought as a present for myself two Christmases ago. You might think this is weird, but because the board is varnished and flat, I prefer heads that look fresh every time. During COVID I've only used them for practice and to vastly improve my projects. There is no substitute for them other than real people. I never choke on how to navigate the face. I just enjoy working on them. Lately I've been gluing my jewelry onto it to further explore my designs. They work fine for me. Kids think they're totally freaked out! :) big plus!
