I bought this unit to connect my TV and receiver to mix TV sound and microphone sound. The microphones connected immediately, the microphone seems to be of high quality. I put the batteries in and everything worked. At first I had problems with the operation of the optical input/output. It seemed easy enough to connect the TOSLINK from the TV to the device and receiver. It didn't work so I emailed tech support with the details. To be honest I already knew that this company is responsive because they respond to every review on the product page. (This tells me that this is a real company, offers motivated employees and while there aren't many reviews, they are here to prove themselves.) I received a response in about 36 hours and the issue was resolved immediately. The response was well written, it was obvious that they read my email and took the time to understand the issue. They even included screenshots for my specific TV's configuration. It worked without any problems. (I think the included instructions could use some improvement. I feel like they mentioned that?) My rating has been changed from 1 to 5!
