Too big for my clothes

I love this belt, I just can't use it. I wear Dickies shorts year round and they are too big to fit through the loops. The end can be pushed through with a little effort, but the adjustment loop is too big, which makes this harness completely useless for me. It's a shame because otherwise I love this belt.
