This NIC connects at 10 Gbps and I was able to push about 9 Gbps of traffic through it in both directions (probably limited by either my workstation or server). against which I test). However, it gets very hot even when idling. I measured it at around 120F at idle. It's hot enough that I was afraid to leave it on the computer's plastic case for fear it would crash into the case. Running so hot makes me wonder how much power it's drawing from my workstation. It seems that all variants of Thunderbolt 10Gb/s network adapters get very hot, so this seems inevitable. However, I haven't had any stability problems with this network card compared to the competition.
