Definitely seems built very sturdy but I have to say all this talk about self-balancing is confusing. Bought this for my six-year-old and we are having a tough time, even me, learning how to mount and Dismount without the unit shooting off either forwards or backwards. The control pad is very sensitive and when you're stepping on or off, the slightest touch and it will shoot in whatever Direction. My seven-year-old had it shoot off forwards out from under him when he was dismounting and fell right on his back side and it compressed his back. It was pretty painful for him. Enough for us to be concerned about back injury for a while.We still have yet to figure out how to mount and Dismount from the unit without it taking off. Having very little included documentation and a poorly written pamphlet is not helpful either.
